„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
Assured Victory against Békéscsaba
Leading almost throughout the game, our academy's adult team secured a well-deserved 32-26 victory against the resilient Békéscsaba in today's afternoon match at the sports hall.
Facing the second-to-last team on the table, and a fierce competitor for survival, our academy's adult team took to the court at the Dunaújváros Sports Hall this afternoon at five o'clock, openly hopeful for success.
However, the visiting team was also determined to secure the two points, starting the match with two quick goals. Nonetheless, our team quickly caught up with their rivals through goals from Trawczynska and Arany. The game unfolded as planned for our handballers, as while Békéscsaba made several mistakes, our team scored four consecutive goals to take a 6-2 lead, forcing an early timeout from the visitors' coaching staff.
Unfortunately, this broke our team's momentum, and the opponents took advantage, reducing their deficit to a minimum with a 4-1 streak by the 18th minute. Although Arany's goal widened the gap again, more errors crept into our gameplay, leading to a timeout this time from the DKKA coaching staff in the 22nd minute (8-7). During the brief pause, our team regrouped, with Moreno and Lakatos scoring. Despite the visiting team did not want to fall behind Sallai's brilliant goal and Paróczy's penalty shot right before halftime saw the teams heading into the break with a 13-9 DKKA lead.
The visitors scored the first goal after the break, but our team responded with a 3-0 streak, leading 17-11 after Sallai's goal in the 35th minute, seemingly on the verge of deciding the fate of the points. However, Békéscsaba was not ready to concede, halving the difference between the two teams in just over three minutes, making the match wide open again (17-14). As the game accelerated, defense took a back seat, but with our team making slightly more mistakes than their opponents, the academy's team led by only two by the 44th minute (20-18).
Török's goal came at a crucial moment, and the substitute goalkeeper Wéninger made several important saves. After Paróczy's double, followed by goals from Lakatos and Nick, Kohász led by six again (25-19). Fortunately, the remaining ten minutes held no more excitement. Despite several suspensions, our team maintained their confident lead, ultimately securing a comfortable 32-26 victory, strengthening their seventh position in the league table.
